e-science with EUDOXOS:

The National Observatory for Education  'EUDOXOS' is the oldest Greek center for Robotic Astronomy and the Official Observatory of the Secondary Education System of Greece. It  hosts a wide variety of remotely controlled telescopes and implementations of their associated diverse technologies. EUDOXOS' as a new institution, was conceived in 1993, started development in 1996, and operates since 1999 at an altitude of 1040m on Mount Ainos, Kefallinia Island, Greece. The other Optical Telescopes of the EUDOXOS Observatories  are installed in  sites located outside Kefallinia.

Current Instruments -Facilities:

EUDOXOS' largest telescope in service at the moment is the 0.62m "Andrew Michalitsianos" Telescope (TAM) . There are also two other telescopes in service (the "Ouranos" of 0.27m diameter and the "Apollon" (HTA) a 0.15m dedicated Solar Telescope designed by the Observatory. It consists of  a 4.5m high Heliostat tower, vacuum tubes and various imaging objective lens assemblies. In  December 2006  the installation of 'Vikendios Damodos' Telescope (TVD) -a specially made Ritchey-Cretien 0.51m equatorial reflector- is scheduled. to take place An additional project regarding the design and construction of a novel 3-mirror experimental robotic telescope (1.1 m dia. named (Konstantine Karatheodory - (TKK)) is ongoing .
